Dr. Satanan Chanowanna is a lecturer at Assumption University's Montfort del Rosario School of Architecture and Design (AAU). She holds a Bachelor of Architecture from King Mongkut's Institute of Technology Ladkrabang (Thailand), a Master of Architecture with distinction from the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor, a Master of Arts in History from Ramkhamhaeng University (Thailand), and a Ph.D. in Architecture from Silpakorn University (Thailand).
Her research focuses on the theory of architectural design of culture. She's published on postmodern architectural theory and history, and her work has explored various interdisciplinary intersections. In her teaching, she's interested in design theory, particularly regionalism and decolonization.
In her professional practice, she's also designed houses, interiors, and landscapes. Her responsible courses include History, Theory and Concept in Design, Seminar on Ideology of Architecture and Culture, Architectural Design and Architectural Work.
In the past, she's been a guest lecturer and design critic at various universities, including Chulalongkorn University, Silpakorn University, King Mongkut's Institute of Technology Ladkrabang, RMUTR, RMUTT, RMUTTO, and Khon Kaen University, and also as a judge at several design competitions, such as Baan Lae Suan Fairs.
